Things like websites have a tendency to snowball. That is to say, that what started out as a few pictures of a couple of trout flies has morphed into a collection of photos, a series of tutorials on how to tie the things and then, a store for God's sake!
It has been a learning experience to say the least and an on-going one at that.
The tutorials do not pretend to be the final word on how any one fly is constructed. It is just how I do it and that changes every time I watch others build flies. The photographs are an on- going experiment in digital photography. At present, I use a Nikon Cool Pix 995 and a ton of lights.
The store evolved out of my desire to photograph new bugs. I found that local shops have bugs that are in demand locally, which is fine, but narrow in scope. I found it hard to travel from shop to shop and from state to state. So, I started an online bug shop. Now, the flies come to me. I sell top flight flies at reasonable prices so as to ensure I can pay for the lights needed to photograph them. Very Zen.
